WOYWW #179

What's on your WorkTOPdesk Wednesday according to Jozart <tee hee>
WOYWW is famous again thanks to Jozart who went on BBC radio talk show with Sean Styles to talk about our Worktops as she called it. Found out we went famous again from Julia's post.
48 more days to Christmas!!
I came downstairs this morning to take my weekly show and tell photo and stepped on this disaster!!! I knew it would happen eventually but didn't expect it to be this soon WAAAAHHHHH. It was only just the other day that I thought I'd better strengthen the ends where the dowling sticks hung up
On the weekend I went to Mogo which is a tiny little settlement about 2.5hrs drive towards the coast to do a Booked and Bound class at Amanda's of Mogo. The classes were held at the Gold Rush Colony which is a historical 1850s theme park and accommodation. My desk above shows the 4 books I made. The black and silver one to the left was titled Double Concertina, green and morone one to the middle was titled Tags and Pockets, the off white with blue ribbon stitching to the front called Japanese Stab Binding which I noticed had incorrect stitching that is now fixed and the Fashion Plate one to the right still in plastic packaging to be completed (I will have photos of the complete book next week) and close ups.

This is where we crafted and crafted and crafted
I accidentaly started photographing in monochromatic-now you see why I call this place a dungeon-in black and white it looks like one hahahahah. I didnt get a chance to visit any of you last week, now you know why, I promise to visit all those that came by my next last week and those who will visit this week as well. I will also have some great news to share next week.
I thought I'd share this with you all as its a great concept in recycling

Run over to the infamous Julia's blog to see more great ideas or dirty WorkTops

I hope you had loads of fun and fellowship at your scrap retreat. The room loofs fabulous...great high beams for the ceiling . Your books look fab on the table.
Hope your dowelling gets sorted. I have done my ribbon so many ways...I now ironed it and hung it up on tags which hang on hooks.

Oh no to the disaster but at least you will have fun sorting out those ribbons and putting them back up! The class looked fun - I do admire people who drive 2.5 hours to get to places like that - if its more than half an hour I dont go! Thanks for sharing - Sunshine Girl No. 54

Oh dear what a crafty mess, with all your ribbons. Your little mini books are just lovely so very pretty, I would love to do these.. What clever ideas for the bottles the bird feeder would be good one.. Just to let you know the owls have hatched and I managed to get a photo of the babies. I have it on my blog. Sandy :) #44

Just as well there was no kitty cat present or else those ribbons would have been in even more of a state. Hope you manage to fix it up ok.
Your mini album/books look great, I so wish I had a crafty gathering nearby, you're very lucky x

Shame about the ribbons, maybe you need a support half-way along (a hook or something?)
Love the recycling ideas, hate waste of any kind - that's why I have piles of tiny pieces of paper.

Not a good thing to come down to the stairs and find laying around, at least they didn't have far to fall unlike me..... read my post then you will understand. LOL

Those books look really great, what a fantastic place to craft, such fun in the historic venue.

Thanks for sharing found it really interesting.

Hi Bridget - Just think you get to reorganise all those lovely spools of ribbon - every cloud!! I love the venue for you crafting weekend. It looks fab. I love all the wood no wonder you had a fun time. That milk carton igloo would please lots of children if they were in the garden - I know a dog that wouldn't mind one too!! Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 56

I remember last week you talking about those dowels, and now you have the proof that you should have taken care of it when you thought about it! OK, your craft area does look like a dungeon in the black and white photo, amazing that black and white changes it so much!Love that historic craft crop, now that's cool! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

Those recycling ideas look great! What a shame about your ribbons, hope they all got back into place!

Krisha said...

What wonderful re-cycle storage. I may have to try those ideas. Ribbons, on rolls are hard to store and hanging the dowels has always been a pain in my neck. LOL

You need to look at Brenda's ribbon roll storage...but I can't hlep to admit that I smiled at the collapse..maybe you've just got enough ribbon now! Your day away for 3 mini albums looks great (3 is impressive) and what fabulous surroundings.

Bernice said...

How annoying to come down and find your craft room all messed up. Very impressive that you managed to make three books at your workshop.

Not a fun thing to come to see all your organization on the floor. I love the 2nd book you made looks like the tags and all were fun. And the venue that the class was looks very interesting place to be.

Love that colored pencil storage! I had wondered how you had those rolls and rolls of ribbon and things staying on there so good!

Hi Bridget,

Your new crafty space is looking very well put together! Bummer about the ribbon rod falling down.

The mini books look great - I can just imagine how much fun you had in the class.

Ooops! don't you just hate it when that sort of thing happens? Hope you are able to reinforce it OK.

Looking forward to seeing your recycling ideas next week - I love those milk bottle holders for coloured pencils - really cool!

It looks as if you had great fun at the class.

Have a great week.
Happy belated WOYWW,

great crafting dungeon of doom. I spy lots of fun things to play with. Nice minibooks and I bet you had a lot of fun in the class! I think I am going to buy some of those special ribbon storage things from the people who make the clip it brand. I am tired of fighting with my system now when I need to change a spool I have to take the whole thing down or it falls down like yours did! Have a great week and thanks for sharing! Vickie #77

Thanks for your visit, Bridget, and glad you enjoyed mini-Shoshi lol! I can smock but haven't done it for years. I wonder if you can still buy the smocking dot transfers?
