WOYWW #147

Hello Fellow WOYWWers
The mess didn't change, it just got added to.
M&Ms were for photography purposes, I did not get tempted to eat one.
Stamped images I did last night at stamp group and some Magnolia Stamps lent to me ready to stamp up.
Must clean up this mess and the bed is still full of craft stuff so its been almost a month not sleeping on the bed hahahaha

Canon EOS 600D, the lens is bigger than the Nikon LOL

Well I survived my first week using my NEW BABY Canon EOS 600D,
this will be its acronym CE6D

To say this camera is overwhelming is an understatement, seriously and honestly all the mothers out there will relate when I say its like having a new baby. Everything is unexpected.
Even though the weekend prior to taking receipt of the camera,
I had watched 6 hours straight of DVDs going through the basics.
Have you ever smelt a new camera?
OH MY GOODNESS I was nearly drunk on it.
It's like a new car smell.
You just want to sniff and sniff and not lose that intoxicating aroma.
My nose kept imprinting on the back of the LCD screen whilst looking through the viewfinder.

Some wonderful ladies over at WOYWW have given me wonderful tips and links to photographic sites that I really appreciate, so if you're out there and watching me learn this baby and know of any links I can follow or look up, I am not afraid to say HELP!!!!

I googled and found Canberra Photographic Society which I am going to attend very gingerly and hide at the back of the class, I'll just take my Nikon and not let on that I have a REAL camera.

Here are some photography sites I am going to stalk
Kirsty Wiseman (thanks to Diane Wray)
Scott Kelby (thanks to Gunn)

and of course Mr Crafty showed me this site

Foto Friday #2

Newer Posts appear below this one
It was hard to choose a 'best' picture because I took a lot of 'duds' this week with the new camera.
Awaiting delivery of my Macro lens so I can really do proper macros, the above photo was taken standing 2 metres away.

WOYWW #146 New Canon Camera

The Baby has arrived!!!
My first DSLR and boy was it worth the wait, its a
Canon EOS 600D with twin lens
As you can see the desk has not changed except that it got dumped on more
and when the camera arrived all the innards of the box littered the table.
Opps I can see clothes on it still!!
Mr Crafty dug out his tripods, so I now own 3 tripods lol
DD Photographer will inherit the baby one
the one on the left is the one I bought called a Manfrotto
it is yummylicious
This is what it can do, spread its legs, the middle column
folds down horizontally to take macros
I bought these to help me along

ok it took me 2 hours to read the manual and all I managed to do was put in the SD card and battery and turn it on, I tried focusing with the EFS 55-250mm lens and everything was out of focus, so back to reading the manual again. Doesn't help that I am extremely tired, so I guess I will just have to go to bed and wake up fresh and try and learn this baby.
So what do you think? Do you like it?

Of course all the photos above were taken on the Nikon Coolpix S630 until I work out the DSLR
Spent 6 hours on the weekend watching DVDs of the basics of using a DSLR

I learnt that this type of photography is called Fine Art.
After I took this photo and 3 others I unintentionally pressed a button and now it wont take any more photos LOL, so its back to the manual to read what I did wrong

First picture from the Canon, can you guess what it is? I used the 55-260mm lens on this and don't ask me what settings it was on, I just turned the dial until it would click.

Hop on over to Jan's place to see what other people are up to in their craft areas.

Pelicans Galore

Central Coast NSW Australia
I love going to feed the pelicans, these pelicans get fed by the council.
The water is so calming and the cool breeze adds to that effect

Comet or Plane?

I was taking dusk photos the other day and saw this shooting light
Mr Crafty says it was a plane, it was shooting up rather than down.

One Fail and One Success

Don't you hate it when the recipe makes you fail!
I followed the recipe exactly with the top photo only to have the cookies turn out flat.
The second time round I reduced the amount of butter and it turned out perfect.

They both turned out yummy!!

Yellow Sunset

My point and shoot Nikon Coolpix S630 is really behaving itself and taking wonderful photos. It must have heard me threaten that I am getting an upgrade to a DSLR Canon EOS 600D. It has never taken so many good photos since I bought it 3 years ago.

Over the fence behind our house we see lots of birds, this is one of them,
the neighbours feed them breadcrumbs so they come every day.

WOYWW #145

Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday

I am so glad my post last week on WOYWW # 144
made so many of you laugh, thanks for all the feedback.
As you can see I have moved all my photography posts to this new blog,
I needed to separate it from my crafting blog.
So if you were subscribed to my other blog for WOYWW posts then you
will need to resubscribe or follow this one again as they aren't linked.

As you can see I have not progressed with my tidy up, all the craft stuff is still on the bed
and no I do not like the spare room I am currently camping in.
The clean desk is now a mess and not from crafting.
I tried to do some colouring with my inktense and prisma pencils.
Bought some new red sticky tape from my friend
who has just been made a spellblogger at Spellbinders
woohoo I was so excited for her when I saw the news posted.
You can see her name up in lights HERE
I made some Fudgy Wudgy cookies on the weekend,
as you can see the top photo shows the duds, there was too much butter
in the recipe, don't you hate it when that happens,
recipes are supposed to be perfect.
The bottom picture shows my attempt at the recipe with less butter, way way better
Mr Crafty has promised me a ridgy didge camera and I chose the
I hope my photography daughter doesn't read this post,
she'll want to 'borrow' my camera.
(I caved and had to call DD to ask her advise on what camera lol)
I was allowed to get a
Canon EOS 600D
(click on each of the above links to see reviews)
I got the twin lens set so watch out WOYWW when I get that
camera in my hands. It's on back order and should be with me next week.

I invested in this as well

Weekly Top Shot #21

It's very rare that I get to capture a cool dusk shot behind our house,
today was my day and I didn't know if my point and shoot was capable.
Love the rays radiating out from behind the clouds.

This is one of my favourite photos I took in Adelaide of my daughter Emma,
using one of the fattest digital cameras I have seen, but it turned out well
