What's on Your My Work Desk Wednesday
Next week is the 4th anniversary of this work desk sharing and we are making an ATC to share. Last year I made over 100 to share with anyone who was interested. This year I am a little occupied with Design Team commitments as well as studying for a course for my work. You can read all about the ATC 4th anniversary and instructions HERE.
So I still can't share my desk with you because I have nothing on it LOL but I can share with you how I store my Spellbinders Dies
So I still can't share my desk with you because I have nothing on it LOL but I can share with you how I store my Spellbinders Dies
I was introduced to these DVD cases a year ago by Lana Murray from K.I.S.S. and it's been one of the best storage systems I've invested in. I cut out all the dies so I have something to go on as to what the designs look like IRL. I was gobsmacked and amazed at some of the dies and what they looked like after I cut them out.
I haven't put magnetic strips to hold the dies in the cases yet, still thinking about it, as the magnets are quite heavy and I am wondering if I can fit 2 sets of dies in one case. I have found this system works best for me as I quite often transport my dies to retreats/craft days etc.
I cut the packets the dies come in and stick them to the spine of the DVD cases for reference. Check out Becca Feeken's die storage system, she goes one step further and colour codes them.
I've pre cut the waxed paper in various sizes that I use to cut out the delicate dies with. In Australia it is only available at Coles supermarkets
My daughters surprised me with a visit for Mother's Day, I had to go out and left this note for them.Hop on over to Julia's Stamping Ground to visit more desks around the world

Love your note Bridget - and how organised you are!! All the best with the design work.
Blessings

I would love an ATC please :-)
Thanks for sharing your die storage. I have an ArtBin case for some of my dies but my Spellbinders mainly go in plastic cd wallets and are stacked in a long fabric cd case. You would not believe how many I have.
Thanks for visiting me
Hugs, Neet xx 2
Nice organisation of your Spellbinders, mine are stuffed in a drawer. Francesca #27
Hi Bridget! Is freezing down your way? It is very cold here in Dubbo at the moment and wet lol! Thank you for visiting me earlier and for your lovely comment. I hope to do more canvas work and I will stick to bright colours....as well I love them hehe. Love your idea on storing your dies, another blogger had the same idea too! Great minds :-). Have a great week and happy WOYWW.

I've never submitted anything for publication, so I think your note is crazy funny.
You are the second person tonight I've seen store dies in DVD cases. What a fab idea.
Happy WOYWW from #10.
I threw a huge pile of DVD cases out a few months ago... now I regret it... bum. Had to laugh at your note to the kids... FB has a lot to answer for!! Annette #23
Nifty idea for storing those dies.Nice dies too.
Judy #33
Your note to your daughters made me laugh! I leave random ones to my son as well...usually in capital letters for the really important stuff!
Clever die storage btw :-)
Hugs, LLJ 40 xx
Great organization of the spellbinders. Love that note to the girls. Have a great week. Vickie #26
That microwave in my basement studio is for low-immersion fabric dyeing. If course, it could also heat my coffee, too.
I don't have any Spellies, but my Tim H ones take up lots of room, (one day) I will sort them out... Love the note - did it work? Helen, 5
I'm doing a quick blog dash before I get started this morning cos we have another estate agent coming today to take pics of our house so it needs a final hoover and tidy through :-)
You are so organised Bridget :-)
Hugs,

Great storage idea. I hope to have one of those die cut machines. Makes great stencils for the Gelli arts. Thx for stopping by my place. Dori #49
Love the note and storage.
Thanks for popping in to see my desk. Don't worry about it being glass, it's made to withstand a lot of weight and pressure. I got it from IKEA along with the trestles that hold it.

Neat storage, I have just got my DH to order another zip around folder for mine where I put them on magnetic pages. You don't need much patience for décopatch it is very relaxing really. Thanks for visiting me today and entering the spoon draw BJ#51
great way to store your dies. What a fun note from your daughter.
Happy woyww jill #37
You not only store your spell-binders brilliantly you have a really beautiful collection of them! So far I'm new to all this and I think I have 2!!! Have a great day xxx#58
Thanks for visiting....love the dies, very ornate

Hi Bridget
what is going on everyone has got really tidy craft tables today. I have just seen on someone elses blog that they are storing their dies the same way as you and they have two sets plus the magnet sheets in the DVD case so that might help you.
Sending hugs on this WOYWW have a great day
Ria #24
Nifty storage idea, 1 Question, the shapes you cut, are they just ones ready to grab when you need them or do you use them as templates to see what the shapes will look like b4 cutting the real ones out?
Minxy #22
How funny - I just changed how I stored my Nesties and am liking it much better (although I don't have that many :))
The fish-eye photo was taken thru the lens of an old pair of my DDs glasses!
Happy WOYWW!

Love that die. I don't have that one. Smart to leave a note. (smile). #93
Now that is a very clever idea for storing your dies. Have a lovely week.
Sandra @21
That's a great idea for Spellbinder storage and neat as well. Happy WOYWW. Pam#20
A great idea for storing your dies - I use the magnetic folders (Marianne I think it's called) but after I filled one up and had to buy a second I decided they were quite expensive, so when the second one is full I shall have to stop buying dies! I might try your idea, especially with the magnetic strip inside to hold them in place. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, hope you have a great week.
I love the note - well you just have to tell them sometimes don't you!!! x Jo
Clever storage solution. Great note.

Hi Bridget,
Thanks for the earlier visit, I am still trying to figure out what is the best way for me to store my dies. Right now I have them in a binder. They give away free magnet calanders at sporting events and I grab a hand full. These work great for the dies as they are not heavy, but still thinking about different ways, so thanks for sharing your ides.
wow, those dies are beautiful, need to add those to my list! terrible when you have to keep your crafty makes a secret isn't it, luckily, I don't have anyone coming to photograph mine!
Debxx
Hi Bridget, I am liking your die storage. I guess the cut out ones are to check sizes and to see what they look like on a project which is a great time saver. Thanks for your visit earlier, have a great day. Hugs Mo x #60
Hi Bridget,
Ok, the sign made me laugh! They just want to share their mom's amazing talent with all their friends!!!
I like how you store your dies. I have a suitcase box that I put all my dies and embossing folders in so they are all in one place. That seems to work for me. If I ever get a huge supply of dies I may copy your idea though.
Thanks for visiting me already. Several of you mentioned my "thumb drive" being called "usb drives" and I've heard that term too.
Happy WOYWW

That note is so funny Bridget, love it. I do store my dies on magnetic sheets, they are a bit heavy but I use an A4 (foolscap) size plastic case and can get four sets of dies on each one and the box will hold about 5 magnetic sheets - but I like your idea too. Thanks for your visit. Hugs, Anne x #53
Thanks for visiting my desk over in Cape Town already! Love the way you store your dies, you have so many judging by your previous posts, I don't have nearly so many and have not hit storage issues for mine yet... #63
Great storage idea. I have mine on magnetic sheets in A5 ringbinders. Love the note too! have a great week, hugs Shaz #125 xx
Everyone has out their dies this week. Those are on my wish list! I like your not to your daughter its funny. I have a friend who's husband takes her crafts to work to show off without her permission and then she's worried if it'll return safely! ;-)
I like the idea of storing a cut version because it is so much easier to see what you are getting. Have a great week.
Sweet Die Storage I don't have the space for that I made a little magnetic flip book that works my my small collection
Happy WOYWW hugs Nikki #9
Great storage, you are so organised. I love your note,

Gosh Bridget, you are well organised. I don't have many dies so keep in their original packaging but they can be a pain to open. Love the pretty frames, need some of those.
Thanks for visiting. We had a tent years ago but think I'm too old for sleeping on the floor now, I like a bit of comfort.

Nice and organized - which reminds me, that I should really continue to sort and organize my things. Still many unpacked/unsorted supplies and office stuff - not my favorite thing to do!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Have a great week.

What a good idea to store them in DVD cases. They are so dainty and some even tiny, this would keep them nicely protected. I think I will try this myself.
Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog.
Hi Bridget, your note made me smile :-) - thanks to keeping our house tidy for viewing, mine should say 'No Crafting Zone :-(
Happy woyww
Debs #115
Hi Bridget, love that pretty die and your die storage solution. I store my die in a cut down lever arch file, each set of dies is on magnetic card then put in a cd wallet with holes punched at the top ready to pop in the file, a file holds about 25 sets which is great for me as I don't have much shelf space.
Thanks for paying me a visit
Hugs Lottie # 132
great die tip! happy woyww! Lindsay #114
like the note! thanks for visiting me jenx
You are as organized as I am (but I store other stuff, not dies...) I love it. The note for your daughters is both very sweet and hilarious! Thanks for stopping by my blog today and happy, belated, woyww. Marit #109
I love how you store your dies, what a great idea! Love the wax paper idea too, will have to give that a go. Thank you!
Michelle #126
Clever storage idea. Had to laugh about your note. With FB having become the way to send messages, it's amusing to see you have to revert to a written note to communicate about it. Thanks for visiting my blog - I appreciate it.
Deborah #141
What a great way to organize your dies. I love the idea of cutting them all so you have a reference :)
Hi Bridget
Thanks for trying to find me this week unfortunately some serious health issues happened with my BF and I have had to stop work and tend to her. I will email you when I get a chance
Hugs Eliza
Interesting storage! I haven't found anything that I love for those dies yet. I've tried several now, just haven't hit the right one for me. Thanks for the visit!
Angie #99
Great storage you seem a very organised and tidy person
It's tough doing stuff that must not be seen before its published etc .... You so want to show people

That note made me laugh, so your daughter must blog about your crafting then. How cool is that! Those die look gorgeous btw1 Just wanted to say thank you so much for voting for me, it sure means a lot to have support! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥
Well, that’s what I call organized Bridget, you should be able to find exactly what you’re looking for in the blink of an eye once it’s all finished.
Have a great week. (what’s left of it)
Happy Crafting!

great storage idea- I used to do that, and now I use page protectors in 3 ring binders. Easier for art on the go Now that I am a SB Action Team member.
So we are sisters in SB!

Love all your dies, I'm a fan of Spellbinders too. Good luck in the DT challenge, hope you make it through! My husband never gets back problems, even when he's hunched over things for hours at a time!!

Hi Bridget! Thank you for visiting me for my first WOYWW! I think I am going to be learning so much more about art/crafting too. I don't really know about dies and now I want to learn. The ones you showed are beautiful! Have a great week! Robn (Rasz) #139
You are SO organised - puts me to shame. Loved the dies on your desk - beautiful shapes. Have a great week.
Margarety #153
What a great idea!! I love seeing people make creative storage!
xxDaniella#97
Those lacy dies are gorgeous. I love DVD cases. I use them for my clear stamps and the few dies that I own.
Nothing on your desk, amazing! Happy WOYWW.
I have a load of DVD cases for dies and I put two pieces of magnetic stuff and have two sets in them, my cases are crystal clear ones, one side I have to stick it the other side it sort of clips in. What I do is cut the picture from the packaging to fit, stick that to the magnetic sheet then stick the whole thing to the case, or clip it in depending which side. I need to make labels for the spines though and I need a heap more cases now!
I love your dies too.
Thanks for visiting,
Cazzy x
The dies are beautiful, admire your organization and love the note!
What a great idea, making a cut of the dies to keep with them and to see how they look IRL! I really need to do that as I think it will help me use my dies more often. Mine are just stored on magnetic sheets on the backs of their original covers, though. If I make cuts then I will have to keep those there, too, I guess. Hmmm. Something to think about. Well, thanks for sharing that and stopping by my desk for a visit already. I appreciated your comment and hope you enjoy the rest of WOYWW! :) Deeyll #166
Haha, love the note!
Sorry I'm uber late

Lol Bridget!! Happy 4th anniversary of WOYWW. Sorry not to be able to take place in ATC swap this year but you know why - can't get at any of my art stuff!
Thanks for your nice comment. I'm going to look at building techniques next! It is a fascinating country and soooo different from anything we experience in the west.

Thanks for sharing your great system for storing your dies, Bridget! How wonderful that your daughters surprised you for Mother's Day!!
