T stands for Tuesdays

Made these awesome jaffles the old fashioned way in a cast iron jaffle maker cooked in the embers of a fireplace when we went camping two weekends ago. I love creamed corn and cheese and pepper cooked this way. Of course I followed it with a hot cup of tea as it was 3C degrees at 7am in the morning.

This is the original jaffle I had as a kid

EDITED: Due to the many comments about not knowing what a jaffle is.

Unbaffle the jaffle

Is a jaffle a toasted sandwich? Kind of, but not really. A jaffle can only be a jaffle if its edges are sealed, the bread forming a puffy pocket around the ingredients.
Happy campers will remember the original jaffle iron, a cumbersome cast-iron sandwich mould used around the campfire. In 1974, Breville introduced the first electric jaffle maker into home kitchens. Forty years later, more than six million people worldwide have a Breville jaffle maker, according to Breville's Sharon Lenzner.
Lenzer differentiates between a jaffle maker with ''scissor action'', which segments jaffles into triangles, and those that only seal the edges. The latter creates more room for ingredients and is preferred by overfillers such as chef John Lawson, from No. 8 By John Lawson at Crown. Growing up, Lawson loaded up his sandwich press with ''anything you'd have on a jacket potato''.
But Lenzer cautions jaffle lovers to be conservative with fillings, which heat up quickly. ''You don't want to burn your mouth, especially if you're feeding kids.''

This looks awesome. I would LOVE to try this, even if I don't have one of those jaffle makers. Creamed corn, cheese, peppers (make mine bell peppers, please), and bread! How much better can you get?

BTW, I read your comment. One of the gals who lives in your "neck of the woods" has a T2 shop not far from her house. She sent me some loose leaf T2 tea a few years ago. It's pretty awesome!

That is quite a yummy-looking pie/sandwich. We always called them 'camper pies.' Loved the cherry pie filling, but they are good made as pizza also...have never tried this version but it sounds good!

I've never heard of a jaffle, and I've never seen a jaffle maker. lol! I used to go camping, and that looks like the perfect supper to make over a fire. I can't see how I've missed it all these years. Thx!

Always fun to cook over an open fire. Jaffle/jaffle makers are news to me. I'll have to explore.

Never heard of a jaffle maker but that sandwich looks SOOO good! I happen to love creamed corn but only indulge in it at Thanksgiving since I'm the only one amongst family that eats it. Happy T day!

I have never had these jaffles, but ANYTHING cooked outside is on my A list to eat! My Mom always made a creamed corn casserole during the holidays, it is something we continue to do, as well as my DILs.
I will be giving this a try on our next camping trip, the GKs will LOVE it.
Thanks for sharing and for the earlier visit.

Oh, we had a round one of these irons that we used to make grilled cheese or grilled ham and cheese when we were camping as kids. Great memories!
Happy T-Day! :)

Oh yum. I've not heard of jaffles before, but clearly that was meant to be remedied.

I still have my round one, although I never knew what it was called! We used to make apple pies using white bread and canned apples when I was a kid. Great memories! Happy T Day!
