WOYWW 272

I was busy this whole week welcoming, making lots of trips to the airport to pick up relatives and drop them off. We celebrated my grandmas 95th birthday. Here's the birthday girl below. So you will excuse the non desk post.
We worked out she has 8 children, 19 grand children (I'm in this lot), 20 great grand children and 2 great great grand children.
Here she is with her 2 great great grand children Jaydina and Brendan

4 of the 9 children (my mum is on the right)
11 of the 22 grand children (thats me on the left in red, I am part of 5 brothers and sisters and we are 1,2,3,4,6 in the back row)
8 of the 20 great grand children

the food OMG the food, everyone brought a dish or two and it was awesome to taste all those different dishes.
Front left bottom and going clockwise: Lasagne, pasta salad, potato salad, pico de gallo, stir fried veges, broccoli salad, Chicken and potato, palau, roti, pumpkin-pinenuts-beans, char kway teo, bbq pork buns
Chicken and mushroom soup, goat curry, lentil curry, another pot of goat curry
  oh so yummy spring rolls
I got up at 4.30am on Saturday morning to make 130 of these Indian breads we call roti. they are very popular in our family and at any parties and it was worth waking up so early to do them. I made 50 an hour with two burners going. Then I had help and production slowed down lol.

What special memories. Lovely that so many of your family were able to be there. 50 an hour! That is impressive...so funny that having help slowed things down...it is often the case! #23

What a gorgeous spread for a gorgeous family! I just love when far-flung relatives visit - we have one set of Grandparents due in October and I am already worrying about the meals :)

Happy WOYWW!

What an absolutely fabulous post, Bridget - I enjoyed reading every word! What a remarkable lady your grandmother is, and how proud she must be with her extensive progeny! As for you, getting up so early and operating the wonderful production line with all those breads... The food looks stunning, not to mention the cakes!! What a lovely, happy time you must have had, gathering the whole big family together. Just gorgeous.

Thanks for your lovely comment and lol lol! Awww poor hubby... give him a crown, go on. Forgetting to do what we ask them is what hubbies do lol!! It will be lovely to receive when it comes, so don't worry about it not being posted yet.

Yes, it sad when we lose friends. Although great progress is being made with cancer research, it is tragic how many lives are still being lost to this awful disease. The problem was, my friend didn't discover she had cancer till she felt the lump - another friend's tiny lump was found on a mammogram scan and was dealt with, and she's made a full recovery. The difference? The friend who survived was over the magic age of 50 when the screening begins.

Happy WOYWW and hope you get a chance to rest after all your tremendous efforts!

What a happy blog post this week. How lovely that so many of your family could get together to celebrate and what wonderful memories you have all made. Your grandmother looks a remarkable lady, and a lot younger than her 95 years.
Hope you have a great week,

You and your mother are so beautiful. I loved this post so much! I can't tell you how amazing it is to get the opportunity to see your family favorite foods since my family has never even tried half of them--everything looks absolutely delicious!! Family is so important, and I'm glad yours was together. Hugs! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #51

Busy weekend! I have a big family too and occasions like these are good times to catch up on eachother and be amazed at how much the little ones have grown, or that the little ones are grown ups all of a sudden.
Food is always important at family gatherings, and it looks great!

What an awesome family Bridget. Thanks for sharing it with us! I am hungry now after looking at all that gorgeous food. I tried to make gluten free Naan but didn't have any luck. Wonder if the Roti would bake up with gluten free flour? Have a great week. Vickie #64
