WOYWW #277 & A missed opportunity - Michael's Library

I thought I'd show you hubby's pad, or the room I gave up for his library. We both love books so I guess I still have half of this room as half of it holds my books LOL. I discovered my cookbooks are shoved in-between his engineering books...and it's one book here and one book there. MEN!!!

So this room is upstairs and used to be a TV room for kids. It measures 10 feet x 12 feet or 3 meters x 3.6 meters. It would have been a real cosy craft room for me but I can't get too greedy because I have the downstairs which measure 26 x 36 feet or 7.8 meters x 10.8 meters

So as you can see this area is still to be furnished with bookcases. The photo Michael commissioned in Hawaii on our honeymoon 16 years ago has finally been uncased and displayed. It has never been displayed all these years as we never had room nor a suitable stand to display it on.
Going around the room, he is waiting for a coffee table to put his chess set on it.
His lazyboy chair that reclines, we are looking for a second hand one for me. Drawing that I commissioned a fellow student in my graphic design class to draw for us of Michael's dog Shelby that he left in the US. His cat KD is in the photo above that was also drawn by my friend Abbie Boyle.
The third wall with more books. Bookshelves were a bargain and sturdy. We both love reading books so this room is a great little nook for us.

I can't show you my desk just now because I have a secret project going on that I can't share.

Joining Julia's Stamping Ground to see more crafty spaces.

I love a home with books - to me it isn't a "home" (as opposed to a house) without books! Maybe one day I'll show mine... they spread too! Helen 4

It's great to have a craft space of your own, but lovely to have a restful room like that to share. It looks so peaceful. Happy WOYWW, Chris # 14

What a great room in which you can both settle down with good books and companionship when you find that other chair.

Good morning, Bridget. Oh how I agree with Helen. Curl up with a good book - forget the world - and yes, our home is filled with books. 5 large bookcases - and we still can't get them all in!

That looks like a great reading room. I love the portrait and the doggy painting. I have to admit that I have all sorts of books in all different places, so I can understand your hubby with getting them out of place. You tend to find a lot of books that you forgot you had that way :) Once you get all the furniture sorted you will both love spending time in there I'm sure.
Have a great week,
Von #23

I love taking a peek into another room for a change... and I'm passioned about books too so a library to look around makes my day. Have fun finishing and decorating it! (Ooooh... I want me a lazy chair to read in too! Mine isn't as 'lazy') Good luck with the 'secret' project and happy woyww, Marit #47

You are getting too organized. It must feel great to be getting everything put away. Just in time for spring and summer! Hugs from me to you.....

We have bookshelves tucked into every nook and cranny of the house. I could really use about 3 or 4 more but not buying them makes me more aware of how many books I do have. DH keeps threatening to ship over the 30 or so boxes in the US storage unit cause I keep thinking "Oh I do so want to reread Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas/1984/The Sandman graphic novels (just the last few that I own but didn;t bring over with me :)) " and then going out and buying another copy.

I'd love to have a room just for reading, with good light and a comfortable nook to curl up in. Maybe one day....
:)

Happy WOYWW!

Lovely to see a bit more of your new home, Bridget! Glad to see hubby is getting his fair share of space. My hubby has 2 rooms and a massive man cave (garage) and has recently purloined the summer house too - and I have just 2 rooms (which I am very very happy with, esp. as one is my fabby new ARTHaven lol!)

Happy belated WOYWW,

Hi Bridget,

Congrats on being number one!! Yay. I love to read too, although I take advantage of the local library for most of my reading. If I really like an author I'll buy the book when it comes out, especially if there's a waiting list at the library.

The painting of you is great. Glad you have an easel to display it on.

Happy WOYWW
